If you're lucky and have a plucky entrepreur in your community, and are willing to cede control over the network, a local entrepreneur might be the answer. As a business, installing and operating a FTTH network is actually simpler than the cable TV networks that were built 40 years ago. The network plant is much simpler than a complex coax plant, and the central office is much simpler than a cable TV headend.
